Student Account Policy

WOHS Music Boosters provides Student Accounts as a way to allow WOHS Music Students to offset some of the costs associated with participating in music at WOHS.  Student Account funds are maintained by the Music Boosters.  Each student’s balance is tracked and maintained by our Student Accounts Coordinator.  Only those students who have participated in the designated fundraising activities will be included in the Student Account spreadsheet.  

Our music students have the opportunity to participate in designated student account fundraisers, the most common of which is the Ashley Farms Sale during the fall semester.  The Ashley Farms sale is a sale of cakes, cookies, and pies which occurs in late September/early October.  The product is delivered shortly before Thanksgiving.  A portion of the student’s sales are credited to the student’s Student Account.  The contents of a student’s Student Account is dictated by the amount that student has sold in the Student Account fundraiser. All WOHS students who participate in curricular and/or extracurricular music activities can participate in the Student Account program.

Student Account funds can only be utilized for music related expenses.  Music related expenses include the following:

• Instrument rental

• Purchase of music supplies/repairs through the WOHS music instructors (reeds, strings, repairs etc.)

• Participation fees for Marching Band, Indoor Percussion, and Color/Winter Guard, or any other music program that requires a participation or camp fee

• Music related trips (these are trips sponsored by one or more of the WOHS Music Instructors.  In the past, these trips have included Disney, Band trips to Cleveland or Boston, Choral Competition at Six Flags, Orchestra programs at Lincoln Center, Step Team National Competition, Winter Guard National/International Competition, and others). 

Student Account funds may NOT be utilized for non-music related WOHS trips or expenses.  A parent who is an official chaperone of a WOHS Music related trip can utilize funds from his/her student’s account to fund the required cost of attending the event.  Student Account funds may not be utilized for discretionary expenses on Music related trips.

A student’s Student Account funds can be transferred to a sibling who is currently attending WOHS or will be attending WOHS in the future.  However, such a transfer can only occur when the parent or guardian of the student submits a written request for the transfer of the funds.  Any funds which are not utilized during the student’s tenure at WOHS or transferred to a sibling will revert to WOHS Music Boosters upon the student’s graduation from WOHS.
